When should you call to schedule a sick visit?

At Naples Pediatrics, we keep same-day appointments available just for sick children, but please call us as soon as you suspect your child may need a sick visit. When you call early in the day, we can get your child in as soon as possible.  

What children’s conditions are treated during a sick visit?

A sick visit is intended to treat numerous, diverse illnesses and injuries that need immediate or same-day attention. Children’s symptoms often change quickly, so we’re here to help. During phone triage, we’ll ask pertinent questions, evaluate symptoms, and determine your child’s medical needs.

These are some of the most common conditions we treat during sick-child visits:

  • Fevers
  • Flu
  • Upper respiratory infections
  • Headaches
  • Sore throat or strep throat
  • Congestion
  • Coughs
  • Abdominal pain
  • Asthma
  • Rashes
  • Eye discharge or infection

When is a same-day sick visit essential?

Parents don’t need to think twice about requiring a same-day sick visit when their child has certain symptoms. Please contact us immediately if your child meets any of the following criteria:

  • Younger than three months with a temperature of 100.4℉ or higher
  • Older than three months with a fever that lasts three days or rises above 104℉
  • Fever accompanied by rash
  • Widespread rash
  • A severe headache and stiff neck
  • Symptoms of an infection
  • Severe vomiting or diarrhea
  • Persistent pain
  • Unusual symptoms that last more than three days in a row
